Dani Price, an 18-year-old freshman at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, is embarking on a journey of self-discovery and resilience as she pursues her dream of becoming an art therapist. Born in Guatemala and adopted by white parents in the United States, Dani has navigated the complexities of identity and belonging within her family, using her passion for art as a means of expression.

Despite feeling isolated on campus and missing her family from Saint Louis, Illinois, Dani remains steadfast in her academic pursuits and her aspiration to help others through art therapy. Her personal experiences have fueled her determination to make a positive impact, serving as a beacon of resilience and purpose.

Dani's story serves as an inspiration, highlighting the importance of pursuing one's dreams with passion and resilience, and the transformative power of using personal experiences to help others heal.

This photo captures the recent increase in attendance at TopGolf, showing a clear rise in membership over the past year. The scene is lively and vibrant, with many patrons enjoying the facilities, a welcome change from the quieter days of the pandemic.

Even though Covid-19 had a major impact on public spaces, TopGolf is now bustling with activity. People are socializing and having fun without masks, thanks to widespread vaccination and improved health conditions. This lively atmosphere is a sign that social gatherings are making a strong comeback.

For my photojournalism assignment at SIUE, this image tells a powerful story of returning to normal life. While there isn't a written story to go with it, the photo itself does all the talking. It shows the revival of community spaces and the joy of people coming together once again after the long period of isolation.
