Despite feeling isolated on campus and missing her family from Saint Louis, Illinois, Dani remains steadfast in her academic pursuits and her aspiration to help others through art therapy. Even though Covid-19 had a major impact on public spaces, TopGolf is now bustling with activity. People are socializing and having fun without masks, thanks to widespread vaccination and improved health conditions. This lively atmosphere is a sign that social gatherings are making a strong comeback.
For my photojournalism assignment at SIUE, this image tells a powerful story of returning to normal life. While there isn't a written story to go with it, the photo itself does all the talking. It shows the revival of community spaces and the joy of people coming together once again after the long period of isolation.
